We first quoted for the restoration of this pond near Stroud, Gloucestershire, in 2015; didn’t win it and then the property was sold. Fast forward to 2020 and the pond returned to us. The client hated the gravel alongside so we quoted to restore the pond, replace the patio and make a feature of an original mill stone.
The area was prone to both flooding and high water table alongside an ancient, listed property, so we installed a lot of ground drainage to the area ‘just in case’.
Rare for us but with good access, we bought in a machine to clear the pond, with all waste stored on the client’s land to dry out before returning to the ground as fertiliser. Some original paving still existed so we lifted and re-laid this as a central ‘dining area’ feature whilst Bowland Stones’ Cloister paving in random size complimented the property.
The millstone becomes a feature waterfall, laid on our normal PondGard rubber liner and we look forward to planting this pond in Spring 2021, when we also hope to get completion pictures.
