We recognise that once we’ve restored or built your new pond, it can be quite daunting to be left alone to run it. We want you to gain maximum enjoyment from pond keeping, so are always there either there at the end of a phone or e-mail, or available to visit, to help you with any difficulties. We are very proud to have been providing this service for nearly 25 years now; still enjoying the company and matured ponds of some of our earliest clients.
Annual pond servicing
Over 70% of our clients retain our services at least once a year to come and service their pond. A little like buying a new car which needs its regular check-up, we come to you and can either maintain, or help you to maintain your own pond.
Our service involves a combination of the service components below, as well as anything else relevant to your bespoke water-scape. Finally, no pond is complete without aquatic plants and we can supply and plant them direct from our wholesale nurseries. These are then also looked after annually as part of our Annual Pond Service.
As a Hozelock “Centre of Excellence”, we carry spares and also other sundries that may be of interest to you – for example, nets, recommended fish foods, additional aquatic plants etc.
Once your pond has been serviced, we report back, help you with training as necessary and provide any advice necessary to help see you through the next year.
Many of our clients like to retain our services at least once a year, for us to come and service, or help them service their pond. A little like buying a new car which needs it’s ‘regular’ check-up, Mike (our Pond Service Engineer) will come to you and can either maintain, or help you with the servicing and maintenance of your own pond.
Regular maintenance
We also provide a more regular maintenance service if and as you require our help.
We can service your pond monthly, bi-monthly, six-monthly, annually or in preparation for a special event. It’s not the first time one of our ponds has been the setting for a wedding! Anything, or anytime you need us – you just need to call.
Our primary aim here is to ensure that your pond can look after itself by virtue of regularly maintained filtration and circulation systems. We look after your aquatic plants to ensure they are kept in the best condition, and anything else that might be required at the time, is either undertaken or discussed and agreed with you.
Our aim is that your experience of pond keeping should be a pleasure, not a chore. If that means we do the dirty work, then we’re more than pleased to help you. Our staff actually love doing this for a living!
Service components
- Lift, clean and service your pond pumps *
- Strip and deep-clean your filter, using pond-water (very important)
- Replace the ultra violet clarifier (UVC) tube – they last about a year so if your pond is going green, it’s a fair bet that your bulb has blown. If it hasn’t blown yet, its prudent to replace now, ready for the active season ahead *
- Replace the serviceable seals in your filter *
- Remove and clean the quartz tube in your filter *
- Net (or vacuum) dirt from your pond floor
- Cut back / trim / divide / reduce / add to your aquatic plant stock
- Treat the fish ready for the season ahead
- Treat any evidence of blanket-weed with Cloverleafs’ Blanket Answer. We can supply you with additional tubs of this for further treatment if you know your pond suffers.
- Anything else that may be relevant to your specific pond. If, for example, your pond liner is perishing, we can reline pretty much any size of pond, holding up to 100,000 litres of ‘stock’ during the process!
- * When we service your equipment, if ‘new’ products are on the market which can make the job easier and save you running costs (electricity), we’ll brief you, quote if desired and can replace; if on the day, saving the service component costs!
