Hardwood decking
The beauty of hardwood decking.
Hardwood deck-boards are hard, dense, durable and weather naturally to an even silver grey over time. Their rich colour and natural beauty with a life span of up to double that of a softwood deck, makes your hardwood deck a timeless classic to enjoy, aging gracefully.
The beauty of hardwood
Hardwood decking comes in many forms – and whilst harder to work with than softwood, the finished project can be absolutely amazing. Whether it be Ekki, Massaranduba, Balau or your other desired material, the shape and size of your deck is limited only by your imagination and budget.
Hardwood deck boards are normally constructed onto a softwood frame. To prolong the life of that softwood frame, all top surfaces are now painted with a bitumen-based “Ducksback” paint.
We screw down all our deck boards for better security of the board. All the timber we use are industry regulation and standard sizes; all being supplied by our friends at Fountain Timber.
Careful construction and zero waste
Cost efficiency is not only key, but critical too in these modern times of price rises and emphasis on planetary resources.
All our timber comes from Fountain timber. It’s all great quality, structural and fit for purpose. we carefully design your deck to ensure that waste is virtually eliminated from the project. all construction is to industry-regulation, using the heaver-duty formulae of 150mm structural timbers set at 400mm centres, supported where necessary to stand the test of time. We paint all top surfaces of the support structure with Ducksback “Blackjack” paint to further protect and elongate the life of your investment.
All deck boards are individually screwed and, being industry standard pattern and dimension, are replaceable in the future should you ever damage one.
We ensure that all our constructions meet building and planning regulation for longevity and your piece of mind.
After deck servicing
So once your deck has been finished, that’s it, right?
Kind of. With a hardwood deck, there’s very little maintenance to do other than brush it and clean it. Mold and dirty corners can create slippery conditions, so it’s good to pressure wash subject to the area you live, and keep swept too. And that’s about it!

Ekki Hardwood Designer Decking
In 2005, we were invited to this beautiful designer house on the outskirts of Clifton, Bristol, to see if we could not only complement the rear elevation of the house with decking, but also to see if we could do anything for the trampoline.
Exterpark Installation Bristol
A first for us – we were asked to create a small, complicated shape Exterpark deck in Bristol for this client who had designed his own garden which needed to be ready for a forthcoming notable birthday.
Hardwood Deck Near Stroud
Having installed a few Ekki hardwood decks now, we love the colour and finish of this board, so it was great when this client wanted an outdoor entertaining space in this high-plateau location which saw some strong weather.
