In late 2021, we were asked to line this 18 x 22m new-build swimming pond in Berkshire. With a clear plan of how they wanted it to look, we provided much initial consultancy on the design and mechanics, with onward advice to the builder during its construction phase.
The swim zone measures 15 x 3m with a maximum depth of 2m; steps leading into it off the end patio, lined using Elevate (Firestone) EPDM PondGard liner.
A 12-volt re-circulatory pump will draw water down through the gravel, collected through a land-drain before pumping it into the depths, pushing solar-heated water below the colder water, warming the pond for swimming.
We returned Spring ’22 to aquatically plant the project and to add further visual enhancements, such as a water blade, possible lighting and smartphone control of the whole system. The client is adding mid-summer plants when available and recently sent us the last three pictures!
