Three years ago, we were asked whether a lake could be dropped into this 6.5m deep quarry, that flooded with natural groundwater in the winter. “Sure”, we said and after a long, protracted planning application and about three months of muck-away lorries filling in, the hole was formed. Liner supply shortages meant we had our first outing with Firestone’s GeoSmart membrane. Reminiscent of our first baptism by fire, this lagoon certainly tested our Quality and skill for seaming! The forecast of a day of rain and long daylight hours meant we beat the odds, getting it lined before biblical rainfall.
We are already commissioned to return in August ’22 to aquatically plant the lake and to install it’s equipment necessary for the owner to stock with trout.
